Nice to have bought this book! The wonderful but simple approach used in this book by way of explanations and illustrations is phenomenal. The qualities of the print and figures are so good that one doesn't get bored reading the book. I have since adopted the book for my structural geology lectures.5/5(5). Economic Geology: Lecture Notes Book PDF Available. October ; Many people have supported me in my life-long pursuit of theory and practice of economic geology, and helped with this book.

Join Geologist Lara Linde for this lecture to learn about the geology of our area. From the sparkling waters of the Pacific Ocean to the majestic peaks of the Cascade Range, Lara will lead you through the geology of our state. This talk will include some basics of geology, the dominant geological processes at work, and some locations where you can hike to see amazing geologic displays in nature. In this first lecture, a short introduction to the topic will be given. The lecture is started with a description of the course. The goal of the course is to obtain knowledge of the origins of petroleum and gas, of the accumulation conditions and the techniques to find and exploit hydrocarbons.

Excerpt from A Synopsis of Lectures on Geology, Comprising the Principles of the Science: Designed as a Text Book Geological works are, in general, voluminous and scarce, and the expense such, as not to comport with the means, or inclina tion of many who are desirous of obtaining some knowledge of this useful branch of science, hitherto almost novel in this part of the : John Ruggles Cotting.

24 rows  Overview: Introduction to the Introduction of Geology: Lecture 1 Notes (PDF) Lecture 1. Geology is the core discipline of the earth sciences and encompasses many different phenomena, including plate tectonics and mountain building, volcanoes and earthquakes, and the long-term evolution of Earth’s atmosphere, surface and life.

Because of the ever-increasing demand for resources, the growing exposure to natural hazards, and the changing climate, geology is of considerable.

What is structural geology. It is the branch of geology that studies the 3D geometry from micro to macro scale of rocks to explain the deformation processes the rocks experienced since their origination.

It introduces the physical side of Geological Sciences and emphasizes: Geometry (shape, orientation, position, size, etc.). • Books on reserve in library. • Most any Physical Geology text from the last 10 years could possible work, so if cost is a big issue this is a good option • Loaner textbooks (random authors) available for first few weeks of semester until you can purchase your own textbook (get.
